So I really have to remember to be more timely with these blog posts or this happens. So I was waiting to post this one before Cathilee "Cat" Zingano had her fight against Rhonda Rousey, but I guess it is better late than never.
I had the opportunity to hang out with Cat Zingano while she was preparing for her fight against Rhonda Rousey at a local gym in Denver and for the first time hanging around a MMA gym it was pretty awesome. But over the blood and the sweat the story of Cat is what stole the show for me. Like Cat started kickboxing to lose weight after her son was born 8 years ago. Like that's insane that she went from "Oh this is just fun" to "I am fighting for a UFC title and headlining a PPV" in less than a decade. It was like the strangest evolution ever. Other than that she was like super down to earth and just really looking at it just as a sport and not like a kill or be killed scenario which I always imagined was UFC.
But now knowing the outcome of the fight, it sucks that she didn't spark a comeback or actually make it through the first round, but I think she has a little more fight left in her. So I expect to be dropping in on another of her practices in the near future.

Apparently The Post is just running me across the gamut to kind of see how I handle assignments across the board and I am guessing that this was the week of food. In the last seven days I have shot three food assignments that range from French, Italian and some amazing Cuban food, which after 30 minutes of staring at it, I couldn't leave without buying a plate. Now the thing about shooting food, it's something that I enjoy doing, but I also haven't done it in over two years and ever then it was with a set of Speedlites that were triggered by Nikon CLS, which if you know Nikon they are nowhere close to the reliability of Pocketwizards. Anyways, it was great to get my sea legs back for shooting food even though I feel like my studio teachers at Columbia would turn over in their cages if they saw my lighting. So here are a few takes from my week of food. Also, I want to let Mike Zajakowski know that I can't shoot food anymore without hearing your advice ringing in my head.
